Forgotten

Something that I forgot to mention in my last entry. On Monday I plan to start a once-a-month police camp in Peterborough with my friend Abe. It is basically a prep for guys/girls who are interested in being a cop and want to see what it is like.

Hi all. My week has been pretty full. I didn't have to work with Jeff on Monday and Wednesday, as I wasn't feeling up to it, but I did work with him today. I worked at Shaws most of the week to make up for all the hours that I lost due to being sick last week. And of course, I had Spanish. Spanish sucks. I failed Highschool English. (Note: I failed the grammar part of it, but not the spelling part) So how I am I supposed to know how to put together a Spanish sentence structure when I don't even know how to put together English sentence structure!?!?! Oh well. It is three college credits.
At this point I would like to take the time to point out something that really bugs me. When you are traveling along at a brisk pace, and someone in front of you makes a left turn across traffic, sometimes they stop in the middle of the road. Now, stopping in itself isn't the bad part, as they obviously don't have much choice if there is oncoming traffic. But when they stop near the white line instead of the yellow line, you can't get around them to continue on your merry way down the road, thus backing up traffic until they are able to make the turn. There are other scenarios where this can happen, but this one in particular has bugged me today.
For those who don't know, someone broke into my car while I was at work a few weeks back and siphoned gas from my tank. I just bought an alarm system last week so that it wouldn't happen again. I found out the other day that the system can be upgraded to include a microwave sensor, which detects motion in the car if you leave your windows open. I also upgraded to a blue warning LED. Very cool . And they were actually pretty cheap. The expensive part is having the system installed. Very expensive .
Ah well. I must away to pick up my senior pics with Baca. If anyone wants one, let me know.\/ out.

Spam Spam Spamety Spam!

I was going to put this piece of advice on to Chris' blog, but it ended up being too long so I decided to make my own post out of it.
Chris, I agree with you on the spam part of your writing. People do spread their email addresses around way too much. What they should do, is create an MSN Hotmail account (or other equally useless email account) and use when they sign up for stuff online. Not only do you just get to ignore the emails, but they don't ever actually come onto your computer unless you download them from the Internet. I don't get any spam but using this method, and by not getting spam, I miss out on the viruses. This essentially eliminates the need for expensive antivirus software, but a free program like AVG Antivirus (from www.grisoft.com) is still a good thing to have around just in case. That and a good firewall. For all of us nForce4 users, we have a hardware firewall built into our motherboards, so we are automatically protected. I would recommend for everyone else that they get the ZoneAlarm Free Edition from www.zonelabs.com. Windows XP SP2 comes with a firewall, but I would recommend using something that isn't integrated into the OS as your firewall. Also, using Mozilla Thunderbird email client and Firefox for the Internet help with security, as they have very few security holes compared to Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. Windows Vista, which will be coming out next year, is supposed to have an upgraded firewall and security features for Internet Explorer 7, but we all know that those will be broken in a matter of weeks, or even days. It will be interesting to see how some of the new features work though, as a few of them seem like good ideas, like using a limited account for the majority of the stuff that you do on the computer. That way, if you do get a virus or infection, it can't spread deep into the system as the limited account won't let it. We'll see how well that stuff works.
Enough about spam. More about me :) Right now I am sick, on the brink of pneumonia and am taking antibiotics for that. I am not allowed to go to work as long as I am taking medications, so I am off for 5 days.
Spanish class is going well. It is difficult as I haven't taken any Spanish before, and most of the other people in the class have, but it is coming along. I could recite the Spanish alphabet to you now, but I think I would bore you. ;)
Well, I am off to do some chores. \/ out.
